天王寺公園エントランスエリア“てんしば”

あべのハルカスの開業などで近年活況を見せる天王寺・阿倍野地区にて、天王寺ターミナルに近接した天王寺公園エントランスエリアが2015年秋のリニューアルオープンを迎えた。約7,000㎡の芝生広場を有する本エリアは、公園をより楽しむためのフットサルコートやドッグラン、カフェ等の施設が付帯し、“てんしば”という愛称と共にすでに多くの市民に愛着を持って利用されている。
天王寺・阿倍野地区は、大阪市が2012年に策定した「大阪都市魅力創造戦略」において重点エリアのひとつに位置付けられ、観光資源が集積する立地のポテンシャルを活かした文化観光拠点の形成を目指している。同地区の核となる天王寺公園の中でもエントランスエリアは周辺観光資源と園内の動物園や美術館等を繋ぐハブであり、そこに「魅力創造・管理運営事業者」を公募して民間活力の導入を図った。事業者に選定された近鉄不動産は公園再整備及び維持管理を行うと共に、イベントやプロモーションといったソフト事業の展開による公園の総合的なプロデュースを担っている。
明治42年（1909年）に開設された天王寺公園の緑量豊かな園地において、芝生広場は公園のみならず地区のアイコンとして新たなアイデンティティを発揮している。また、すり鉢状のランドフォームは結節点に相応しく、人々の視線とアクティビティを受け止める「みどりの器」となっている。
エリア東側は天王寺駅前からの賑わいと連続するように商業施設が軒を連ねており、イチョウ並木が人の流れを誘引する。その足元の舗装は楔（くさび）のように芝生広場へと貫入し、街並みと公園のシームレスな関係性を創り出した。既存のソメイヨシノと共にヤマザクラの並木が公園を彩り、花見で賑わうであろう。
Tennoji Park entrance area “TENSHIBA” has been opened in the Fall 2015. Abeno district in Tennoji, Osaka has been recently revitalized by constructing Abenoharukas, Osaka’s new leading landmark tower building. The entrance area has a large meadow with 7,000 square meters with futsal court, dog run area, cafeteria, and restaurants. People have already loved to use the name of “TENSHIBA” meaning lawn of Tennoji.
Abeno district in Tennoji is one of major urban revitalization areas in Osaka under their urban strategic planning made in 2012. They have been trying to create a cultural tourism spot here by using existing reginal treasure. The entrance area in Tennoji Park is core area in Abeno district that could be a hub area connecting surrounding tourism spots such as Tennoji zoo and museum. Osaka city looked for a private company for the management as Private Participation Promotion. Kintetsu real estate was selected as a developer and management company for this area.
Tennoji park is a historical urban park opened in 1909. The park has amount of matured green. The new meadow is not only an icon in this park but also new place as an identity in Abeno district. The undulated landform could be a “green dish” which is large and open enough for people’s various activity and view.
There are consecutive commercial buildings in the east of the entrance area and row of Gingko trees which invites people’s circulation from Tennoji station. The pavement here is penetrating into the meadow like a wedge that creates a seamless relation between the city and the park. By using many existing cherry trees (Prunus yedoensis), new cherry trees (Prunus jamasakura) with hundreds year longevity were planted for cherry blossom appreciation in Osaka.
